So the funny bit about this little schmoop is that I was thinking back to when Scott and I shared our first dance at our wedding, and the song (I'm Yours, by Jason Mraz) comes on my Pandora. This elicited a little squeee moment here at work.
It's a short little thing, but I think it works. :D
Nothing really registered in her mind past the way their feet moved together, slowly, with the tune of the song. The DJ was saying something, and the guests all around them were making noise - whether it was cheering or just normal talking, she had no idea. It was in the background, and that they were the center of everyone’s attention... that was in the background too.
There was nothing in the world but Reed, her new husband, and the way he was smiling at her. He was close enough that she could stand on her tiptoes for a kiss, and he slipped his arm further around her waist. She felt herself blushing with the catcall that made it through her bubble of awareness, but let the kiss linger as they continued to sway in time with the music.
The skirt of her white dress brushed the hardwood floor, and she stepped on the bustled train just slightly. She laughed, not caring at all, and they added one more moment to their private joke of her occasional left feet. Nothing needed to be said - it all passed between them with a look, and he chuckled along with her. The dance would be over sooner than later, but for the moment, everything was perfect, right down to the soundtrack to which they were living their lives.
